Hero Client · Documentation
Everything you need to run Hero Client properly.
Installation, feature documentation, keybinds and the questions that actually come up — answered with the real reason behind each behaviour, not a shrug.
Getting started
From nothing to a working client in six steps
Hero Client is a Fabric mod — it installs exactly like one. There is no separate launcher, no account requirement and no installer. You need Minecraft, Fabric Loader and two JARs.
Install Fabric Loader
Install Fabric Loader for the exact Minecraft version you play. Hero Client is a Fabric mod — it runs alongside Fabric API.
Check your Java version
Java 21 for 1.21.x, Java 25 for 26.x. If the client does not appear at all, this is the single most common reason — check it first.
Drop in the JARs
Place the Hero Client JAR for your Minecraft version — and Fabric API — into your mods folder.
Launch the Fabric profile
Start Minecraft with the Fabric profile. Hero Client loads automatically.
Press M
Open the mod menu, browse categories with live search and toggle features on or off.
Make it yours
Drag HUD elements into place, rebind keys in the Keybind Editor, and connect your AI provider keys (BYOK) when you want the assistant.
First launch
- Launch Minecraft with the Fabric profile for your version — Hero Client loads automatically.
- Press M to open the mod menu. Category tabs on the left, live search on top, feature cards with toggles below.
- Open the HUD editor from the mod menu and drag elements where you want them — positions persist as JSON between sessions.
- Open the Keybind Editor to rebind anything — conflicts are detected the moment you assign them.
- Optional: connect your AI provider keys (BYOK) once the AI assistant ships in the Phase 2 parity pass.
Files and folders
Hero Client keeps everything in your normal Minecraft directory. Configs are human-readable JSON in your config folder, screenshots live in the Screenshot Studio gallery, and cloud sync (when enabled) is encrypted end to end.
| What | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mod JAR | mods/ | One JAR per Minecraft version — never mix versions. |
| Fabric API | mods/ | Required. Install the build matching your Minecraft version. |
| Configuration | config/ | Validated JSON — invalid values are rejected at write time. |
| Keybinds & HUD layout | config/ | Persisted automatically; exported with your config. |
| Crash reports | crash-reports/ | Generated by the crash handler — attach them to bug reports. |
